One thing I really like from the upcoming Donkey Kong Bananza is the inclusion of a young Pauline to accompany the new, more expressive, Donkey Kong. The dynamic between the two characters; the silly and goofy giant DK and the small but determined Pauline could lead to some really compelling interactions with the story.
And of course, it seems like it is made by the same crew that brought us Super Mario Odyssey, so it’s very likely the game itself will also be fantastic.
After watching the Nintendo Direct, I quickly created the above loop, featuring Donkey Kong sleeping while Pauline sings to herself with a mic.
I couldn’t possibly make sound effects and record voices for this so quickly, so I simply used the existing music supplied by Youtube, Instagram, and Tiktok to fill in the soundscape. This being a loop, I don’t think many people will listen to it when it scrolls by their feed.
I tried my best to implement a vivid color palette and to give some shadows and gradients to make the image be more interesting to see. If I had more time, I would have added even more animated things in the background (Maybe some animals? Some environmental effects?), but I think the main duo was enough.
