Roblox vs Minecraft

In 2021, I made a video called Roblox vs Minecraft (feat. Builderman).

It featured Steve from Minecraft and Builderman from Roblox getting into a battle as a proxy for the competing building block videogame giants. Unlike most of my other cartoons, I used actual game footage as backgrounds, which I really enjoyed doing.

Three years later, I figured it was time to bring a sequel. Although I was a huge fan of Roblox back in the late 2000s, it becoming as huge as it did a few years ago was not what I was expecting. With the huge amount of popularity came a lot of very serious problems that hampered the game’s reputation to the mainstream audience.

For the sequel, I wanted to touch on that, so Builderman has a big surprise at the end of this battle. I also wanted to comment on the monetization practices at Roblox, by having Builderman buy his upgrade with Robux (Roblox’s in-game currency).

For the Minecraft section, I wanted to make fun of the awful looking Minecraft movie starring Jack Black. Had to do it to ’em.
